Behavioural Services
I specialise in helping dogs who are struggling with behaviours rooted in emotion and stress. This includes reactivity towards dogs or people, fear-based behaviours, anxiety, separation-related distress, and other challenges that impact a dog’s wellbeing and quality of life.
I use ethical, science-based behaviour modification methods that focus on changing how a dog feels, not just suppressing what they do. Every behaviour plan is individually tailored to the dog and their guardian, and is always welfare-led, realistic, and built on trust, safety, and understanding.
I provide one-to-one behavioural support across South Shields and the surrounding areas, helping dogs feel calmer and more secure, while giving owners the knowledge and confidence to support them.
What is a Dog Behaviourist?
A dog behaviourist is a qualified professional who specialises in understanding, assessing, and treating behavioural problems in dogs. While trainers typically focus on teaching skills such as sit, stay, recall, or loose-lead walking, behaviourists work with dogs who are reacting out of fear, anxiety, frustration, aggression, trauma, or stress.
Behaviourists are trained in:
-
Canine behaviour and emotions
-
Learning theory and behaviour science
-
Body language and communication
-
Stress, welfare, and emotional regulation
Because behaviour can sometimes be linked to pain, hormones, or illness, behaviourists often work alongside veterinary surgeons to ensure the dog’s physical and emotional wellbeing are both considered.

I also offer kind, reward-based training for dogs of all ages. My training focuses on teaching real-life skills that help dogs feel confident and able to make good choices in everyday situations.
Whether you’re welcoming a new puppy, working on loose-lead walking, recall, manners in the home, or building focus around distractions, I provide clear, supportive 1–1 training that suits both you and your dog.
My training is always force-free and science-based. I use reward-based methods that help dogs learn because they feel safe, motivated, and understood — never through fear, pressure, or intimidation. Every session is tailored to the individual dog and guardian, making sure training is achievable, enjoyable, and helps strengthen the bond between you and your dog.

What Does a Dog Trainer Do?
A dog trainer helps dogs learn practical skills and behaviours that make everyday life easier and more enjoyable.

-
Recall and loose-lead walking
-
Focus around distractions
-
Settling on a mat / calm behaviour in the home

Confidence-building for young or unsure dogs
Training works by teaching dogs what to do using clear communication, timing, and rewards. It supports better behaviour by building understanding, consistency, and confidence, for both dog and owner.
